Every now and then our body and immune system requires a much needed boost. Whether you're not feeling like your best self, or feel under the weather, or just want to protect your body from future infections, immune boosting smoothies are packed with nutrients to help you do just that.


Starting the day with a wholesome smoothie bowl has numerous perks. With this great morning habit, you ensure that you've started your day with fruit consumption along with superfoods or diet supplements. And I personally feel great when I start the day with a good smoothie!

  • Bananas are a low calorie, nutrient dense and cost efficient choice for smoothies. They are easy to get your hands on and give your smoothie a nice creamy texture.

  • Mango or the “king of fruits” is a delicious fruit that is rich in folate, vitamins A, K, C, all of which promote immunity.

  • Greek yogurt is protein rich which will help you feel full for longer. You can also opt for low sugar yogurts since there are natural sugars from the fruits themselves.

  • Baobab powder helps to increase your energy levels and has been beneficial for the immune system as well as for gut health. It is also a prebiotic and supports healthy skin.

  • Turmeric and its active compound curcumin is well-known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The medicinal properties of turmeric is a long and impressive list.

  • Ginger is also popular for its its immune boosting ability. Gingerol, its main bioactive compound, helps to fight infections.


Tips

  • For a cold busting vitamin C loaded smoothie you can also add citrus fruits such as clementines or oranges.

  • If you want to make the smoothie slightly sweeter, add 1 tsp of honey. It is also known for its health benefits.
